RESTLESS
RESTLESS How many people are not restless? ...very few. It is in our nature to yearn for more__more knowledge, more skills, more experiences, more money, more and new friends, more health, more travelling, or to wish for a different job/career, a different suite/house, a bigger/smaller church/temple, a different car, a different partner...We also yearn to love and to give love, to share, to give blessings and to receive them.
The only comfort is to realize that this present life is temporary; we must think of an infinite horizon waiting. Here on earth is always an incomplete symphony as Karl Rahner wrote.
The blessing of getting older is the fact that everything becomes a "God Moment"__a good rest, a cup of tasty coffee, a bright sunny day, a chickadee serenading, a dog wagging its tail, a child smiling, a flower blooming, a visit from a friend or relative, a sunset or sunrise,...everything brings gratitude and delight.
My advice: delight in your life now. Don't wait for old age. Remember that Someone, God ( whoever you perceive God to be) already delights in you and wants you whole and at peace. Return the blessing by blessing others starting with yourself and remember the One who delights in us daily...and experience a content life instead of restless one.
